Scholarships Presentation Day

Jornada de presentación de becas

A momentous day presenting our local students with their becas (scholarships) for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. These students all qualify with exceptional grades and financial needs. At this time, we have 41 great students, most pictured here with many of the sponsors in attendance. These exceptional students must maintain a 9.0 (out of 10) grade point average.

While more students are being sponsored than ever before, we have many more students waiting. Without help, they may need to drop out of school giving up on their dreams. They will need to join the workforce. Care to make a real difference in someone’s life – think about becoming a sponsor or make a one-time donation now. Every bit helps!

26-Apr-21 Premios de Becas

Our amazing students must show that they have maintained their high-grade standards and need each term to stay in the program. Some may not have personal computers or internet while others may have had to share access with siblings during this time of extra hardship. Yet all this exceptional group of students exceeded grade requirements even with all the difficulties added by COVID-19. It is amazing to see the smiles on their faces and the looks of accomplishment shining in their eyes.

Students in Mexico tend to leave education early. Some 62% of 16-year-olds are enrolled in upper secondary education, 35% of 18-year-olds are enrolled in education (19% in upper secondary school and 16% in tertiary education), and only 30% of 20-year-olds are enrolled (6% in upper secondary school and 24% in tertiary education)[1].

While access to education for 5–14-year-olds is universal in Mexico as in all Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, México has one of the smallest proportions of 15–19-year-olds enrolled in education (53%) among OECD and partner countries, despite having the largest population of this age group in the country’s history. Only Colombia (43%) and China (34%) have lower enrolment rates.
