In this rural area of M\u00e9xico, the primary industry is agriculture. Most children without an education will be destined to a hard life of working in the fields and will be challenged with poverty, and potentially poor health.<\/p>\n
In the United States, all children are eligible for free education for Kindergarten through Grade 12.\u00a0 In M\u00e9xico families must pay for the administrative fees, uniforms, supplies, and transportation costs for their children that are in Prepa (high school).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scholarships for Higher Education Rural Ensenada, Inc. helps fund educational expenses for promising students in high school and college who live in the areas of Maneadero to La Bufadora, Ensenada, in Baja California.<\/p>\n

For over 30 years, this program has offered educational scholarships to deserving high school and college students in Ensenada’s Maneadero and Punta Banda area. At times, these students have included adults who are returning to further their education.<\/p>\n
Over the years, the program has assisted over 200 deserving students in reaching their educational goals. For the 2024 Fall Term, we are assisting 35 students with financial assistance. You can help! We believe that together, we can unlock the unlimited potential of the next generation of Mexican changemakers.<\/p>\n
\u00a0In the past, education in M\u00e9xico was only free for Primary and Middle school students. In recent years it has been made free through Prepa (high school), however, there are still administrative fees, uniforms, supplies, and transportation costs. Our scholarship program awards deserving Prepa students $200 US dollars a year and for university students $600 US dollars a year for tuition and other school-related expenses. For the students to be admitted and continue in the program, they must demonstrate academic excellence.<\/p>\n
For many years Ms. Rosa Diaz single-handedly administered the program. Since the passing of Ms. Diaz, the program is now administered by a committee chaired by Robin Viteri and committee members, Claire Eversole, Michelle Rodgers, and Santa Calderon. The Program is a U.S. non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.<\/p>\n

All our students are enthusiastic and hard-working. All students must have had a 9.0-grade point average in the previous school year. Students must maintain a grade point average of 9.0 or higher while receiving assistance.<\/p>\n
